Fr. Murchadh O'Madagain (pronounced Mur-a-ca O'Mad-again), was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1969. At the age of 6 he moved to Galway on the west coast. After high school he studied Business-Marketing for two years and then did a one year Diploma as a travel consultant. At the age of 23 he began to follow is calling to the priesthood, initially spending a year with the Capuchin Franciscans and then continuing to study for the diocese of Galway. In 1998 he was ordained a priest for Galway. He then worked in a hospital for two and a half years. He then returned to the seminary to complete a two year Licentiate in theology. His major was in Spirituality. He wrote a thesis on St. Therese of Lisieux, which was later published as a book: Therese of Lisieux: Through Love and Suffering. He was then sent to Rome where he attended the university of St. Thomas Aquinas, also known as 'The Angelicum'. He completed his doctorate in Ascetical (Spiritual) theology in 2005 with first class honors. After working for another five years in the diocese of Galway, he applied to work in the diocese of Venice Florida on a temporary basis. His bishop agreed and the bishop of Venice, Frank Dewane), also agreed and welcomed him. After five years in Venice diocese he was 'incardinated', which means officially transferred to this diocese.
